Walking Church

Join us for "Walking Church"! This is a lovely hour-long walk to explore different parts of our city, weather permitting, while reflecting on a piece of Scripture, chatting, and praying together. We gather on the first Sunday of each month at 3pm, and it’s a wonderful way to connect with each other and nature.

For our upcoming walks, mark your calendars! On 1st March, we’ll kick things off at Fulwell Methodist Church, then on 5th April, we’ll meet at Penshaw Monument, and on 3rd May, we’ll gather at the former Burn Park Methodist Church. This initiative aims to bring our Circuit community closer, and it’s also a great chance to invite those who don’t typically attend our church services.

Speaking of coming together, don’t forget about our special weekend at Roker Methodist Church celebrating ‘All are Welcome’! This event marks twenty-five years of Sunderland Samba FC, and we’re excited to welcome Rev Dr Inderjit Bhogal OBE, a former President of the Methodist Church and founder of the City of Sanctuary movement, as our guest speaker. It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet new friends and strengthen bonds in our community!

Here’s what’s happening on the weekend of celebration: On Saturday, 28th February, from 4pm to 7pm, we’ll have activities for kids and families, football skills, and an exhibition showing off Spirited Arts and the Methodist Way of Life. There’ll be speeches from notable figures, including the Sunderland Mayor, and music featuring African drumming. Plus, we’ll be serving food and refreshments from 6pm to 7pm.

Then, on Sunday, 1st March at 10.45am, we’ll all come together for a time of worship back at Roker Methodist Church, with Rev Dr Inderjit Bhogal OBE delivering the sermon.
