About our Circuit

In the Methodist Church local churches are grouped together into circuits. Ministers are appointed to a group of churches rather than one church. These circuits are then grouped by area into districts.

Sunderland Methodist Circuit is a group of 9 churches in the north east of England, covering an area 8 miles north-south and 6 miles east-west, which includes the city of Sunderland and the surrounding communities. The Circuit is blessed with a wonderful coastline to the east.

We seek in Christian love to encourage one another in God's work and to support new developments in worship, learning, service and mission in our communities. Together as a Circuit, we are a united body, sharing and exchanging resources and skills. This means that we can more actively resource and support each individual church as they worship, work and witness within their communities.

The Circuit has a connection with Sunderland University through Chaplaincy and the relationship with Sunderland Samba is developing and positive.
