Vacancy: Net Zero Officer

The Newcastle upon Tyne Methodist District is recruiting a Net Zero Officer to lead and encourage action on sustainability, climate care and carbon reduction across the District.

Recognising that care for God’s creation is an important part of Christian mission and discipleship, the successful applicant will work with churches, Circuits and District colleagues to consider the environmental impact of buildings and projects. They will help promote a culture of sustainability and support practical efforts to reduce carbon footprints.

Applicants should have relevant experience or qualifications and be sympathetic to the ethos of the Methodist Church in Great Britain and its commitment to environmental justice. An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required.

This is a five-year, fixed-term position of 32 hours per month, worked flexibly by agreement. It may be based at home or at the District Office in Benton. The salary is £14.55–£16.63 per hour, depending on experience and skills.
