Vacancy: Faith Rooted Community Organising Lead
The Newcastle upon Tyne Methodist District and the Newcastle West Methodist Circuit are seeking to appoint a Faith Rooted Community Organising Lead, a unique role combining 18.5 hours (0.5FTE) per week as the District's Faith Rooted Community Organising Lead with 18.5 hours (0.5FTE) per week supporting the Newcastle West Circuit.
The successful applicant will work consultatively and collaboratively with Connexional, District and Circuit colleagues and local practitioners to embed faith rooted community organising practices across the District. They will accompany existing churches and new Christian communities (NPNPs) to integrate these practices into their core mission planning, worship and justice-seeking commitment, and will seek opportunities for children, young people and adults to participate in faith rooted organising as part of their faith formation and discipleship.
The role also involves gathering and participating in Connexional evaluations of how faith rooted community organising practices are being used to implement change and enable flourishing, working with and developing the team at Lemington Methodist Church and the surrounding community, continuing to look for opportunities to seed and nurture new Christian communities, and working across established ministries, particularly food and clothes ministries.
A faith is an essential requirement for this role, and in accordance with Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010, there is an occupational requirement that the successful applicant is a practising Christian.
This is a full-time position of 37 hours per week, on a 7-year fixed-term contract, with a salary of £37,000 per annum. The role is based from the District Office (NE12 8AW) and Lemington Methodist Church (NE15 8DT), with a requirement to travel freely throughout the District.
