Sunderland Methodist Circuit Summer Events and Farewell Celebrations

The Sunderland Methodist Circuit is looking forward to a busy and meaningful summer, with opportunities for worship, fellowship, mission, and community engagement across the Circuit.

Farewell to Rev Jane Cook

After many years of faithful and dedicated service within the Sunderland Methodist Circuit, Rev Jane Cook will be leaving the Circuit in July.

A special farewell service will be held at Cleadon Methodist Church on Sunday 19 July at 3.00pm. Following the service, refreshments will be served, providing an opportunity for friends and colleagues from across the Circuit to come together, share memories, and express their gratitude for Jane's ministry.

Further details about the event will be announced in due course.

Supporting World Mission

The Circuit Service at New Silksworth Methodist Church on Sunday 7 June at 10.30am will use worship materials prepared by Methodist Women in Britain for the 2026 Easter Offering. The service will focus on the work of the World Mission Fund, and a collection will be taken in support of its ongoing ministry and outreach around the world.

Everyone is warmly invited to join in this act of worship and witness, celebrating the global mission of the Church.

Walking Church Continues

The Circuit's popular "Walking Church" initiative continues throughout the summer. Taking place on the first Sunday of each month at 3.00pm, Walking Church offers an opportunity to enjoy God's creation while reflecting on Scripture, praying together, and sharing fellowship in an informal setting.

Upcoming walks include:

• 7 June – beginning at Hylton Castle
• 5 July – a coastal walk from Ryhope to Seaham
• 2 August – beginning at Durham Cathedral

The walks are designed to bring people together from across the Circuit and provide a welcoming opportunity to invite friends, neighbours, and others who may not regularly attend church services.
