The Sunderland, Newcastle Central and East, and South East Northumberland Methodist Circuits are seeking to appoint a new Circuit Safeguarding Officer to help support and strengthen safeguarding practice across the region.
The part-time role will provide guidance and support to Superintendents, churches and volunteers, helping to ensure safeguarding concerns are recorded and reported appropriately, while promoting good safeguarding practice throughout the Circuits. The successful candidate will also support the implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures to help ensure the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
The post covers a wide geographical area including Sunderland, Newcastle and communities across South East Northumberland, with flexible home-based working and travel across the Circuits as required.
The appointment reflects the Methodist Church’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding and protecting children, young people and vulnerable adults within church communities.
The role is offered on a permanent part-time basis of approximately 600 hours per year, with a salary of £15.50–£17.50 per hour depending on experience.
