St. John's

St. John's Church in Ashbrooke is a multi-cultural church committed to Mission and spiritual Growth.

Ashbrooke is a residential area with a range of housing types – family homes, bedsits, HMOs housing asylum seekers and university students, retirement complexes and several schools. We seek to actively serve our local community pastorally and spiritually.

Worship on Sunday morning blends traditional and modern and the addition of a Worship Band and Singers has enriched our services. The church maintains strong pastoral care work, led by the minister and lay pastoral leaders. Communion is held in Sunday services plus twice monthly mid- week.

We host Cubs, Beavers, Scouts, Explorers, who are an integral part of our church. Regular events are: – Toddler Group, Sunday Club, weekly Prayer morning, Monthly Bible Study, quarterly Messy Church, sewing and craft groups, weekly warm space coffee and catch up, plus a foodbank collection/liaison person in church.

Community use includes fitness classes, dance groups, badminton, table-top markets supporting small local businesses, and the use of various rooms for family parties, funerals and christenings. There are strong links in the community and with local councillors, schools, Community Food Banks and Refugee groups, the police and other local groups using the premises.
